The space is minimalist modern, moving from bright and airy in the day to subdued and romantic for the evening meal. The food is French, fresh and fabulous. The freshness, of course, is to be expected considering they are connected to the Casel Marché and make the sandwiches and quiche for their café. The service is friendly and helpful. The ironic part of our visit to Cassis is that we have never been able to find that much sought–after 5 glass restaurant in France, but then we discover it just around the corner. We did, however, have one culinary question, and that was about bread. After all in Paris even the most elegant of meals is accompanied by fresh baguettes, but not so here. Why? It seems that we Calgaryians are so calorie conscious or so carbohydrate–hating that if served bread, we just waste it. So why put it on the table in the first palce? Quel dommage! So at Cassis, bread does come with some really saucy dishes and upon request with others. But you won't really miss it, as you will find the meal deliciously pleasantly filling. Reservations are recommended.
